First TBT ever!!! Hope you like...

Today my TBT picture is dedicated to my mom and her old friend who happened to have tragically passed away this last year. Pictured in this image are classical guitarist Susan Grisanti in the driver seat and my mother her assistant Pamela Warren on the passenger side. This picture always made me think of them as a modern day Thelma and Louise, two women on a mission to make something out of themselves. Susan was a phenomenal classical guitarists who my mother had befriended back in the eighties when I began taking guitar lessons from her when I was seven. I really consider myself lucky to have had the opportunity to of been taught by such a master. Unfortunately my stubborn self walked away from those lessons when my mother refused to let me learn to play electric guitar over acoustic. Biggest mistake of my life. But this isn't about me, it's about them. Susan was an extended part of our family, so much a part that I became jealous of her at times and the support she received from my mother. Pamela ended up helping Susan with her career by assisting her with her gigs and her outfits as much as she could. My mother wanted to help her and her career flourish into her full capabilities. Susan was an amazing guitarist but when it came down to her style she needed my mothers assistance. My mother would find outfits for her that were really one of a kind that would fit the persona Susan portrayed as a World Renowned Classical Guitarist. I had mentioned once to my mom why she didn't hint to Susan about her updating her hairstyle but I learned Susan always had her hair cut the same way all her life to keep it from falling and getting int the way of her playing and her nails kept trimmed on one hand and long on the other just to accommodate her love for playing the guitar. Both ladies together really were a force to be reckoned with. With my mothers drive to bring international relations to Lubbock and making it a class of it's own and Susan's astounding ability to manipulate any guitar into a masterpiece with her classical talents these women were on a mission to make history. Unfortunately on my mothers visit to see us this last Thanksgiving my mom finally told me of the mishap of Susan "supposedly" taking her own life in March of 2013. The reason I say supposedly is because I still don't believe Susan to of ever been the type to of taken her own life. My whole life knowing her and what she had encountered through her life I know she would have never done such a thing. She had been very clear at a certain difficult time in her life that she would never. That and even just for the mere reason that she wasn't done making her musical mark on our world. Her passing is truly an injustice to the community of classical guitarist. She was a star of her own making and her light was far from extinguishing. I just wish I could have been there for my mother during the time of her loss. Apparently it was a very difficult ordeal for her to process and even more so when she received a letter "from Susan" after her passing that has now ended up disappearing from her possession. Something about the whole ordeal leaves me unsettled. All I can hope is that Susan is resting in peace and her memory lives on in those who truly cherish her and her talents. I have attached a link here to her videos/performances on YouTube if you would like to learn more of her... Susan Grisanti YouTube Videos as well as a link to her memorial page Online Memorial of Susan Grisanti
